Dear beloved brothers, sisters, and prayer partners,
For the last five years, the scope of our evangelistic ministry has been to the children and youth in the Mayan villages near the camp property. We have utilized the property to do discipleship programs for these youth, but for anyone who was not within walking distance, we have had to rent a van to provide transportation.
Because of these transportation limitations, many of the Mayan villages that we visit to invite the children and youth are not able to send them to the camp. They miss out on the blessing of camp and the impact that it can have. The transportation options in these villages are very limited due to the cost and the schedules of the buses. Most of the families are very poor and the parents of these children and youth find it difficult to bring their kids to the camp and return to pick them up due to the cost and need to work.
The provision of a van will open up doors and options that we have not had before to target more remote Mayan villages that need the gospel. We have been praying for an opportunity like this for some time.
This project will accomplish multiple goals.
1. Reach and transport youth and children from different Mayan villages with the Gospel at camp.
2. Provide a permanent transportation option not dependent on rental availability
3. To go to communities that are difficult to reach
4. To be able to transport mission teams that come and support the work of Camp John 3:16.
5. To help save the organization money by not needing to rent a van to provide transportation.
